Microsoft TechDays’14: on the Intel booth, SPRING Technologies showcases WYSIWYC® solution

One third of the Intel booth is dedicated to the "industry" vertical, represented by SPRING Technologies. Visitors can view the mobile and synchronized CNC machining simulation solution, WYSIWYC, embedded on a tablet PC, "Toughpad" from Panasonic dedicated to CNC operators, as well as on the latest 2in1 devices from Toshiba and Sony, more dedicated to Manufacturing engineering Dept. stakeholders.

"First-ever live demonstration of NCSIMUL Machine on a full HD tough-screen table. "Rendering is impressive. Interacting with NCSIMUL Machine is so easy and very smooth. With this wide touch screen, realistic and immersive CNC machining simulation takes on its full meaning." Says P. SOLIGNAC, Corporate Marketing Director

"With this broad range of hardware solutions, we can definitely state that, in the next generation of factory - Shop floor 4.0 -, everybody will have continuous access to their most precious applications, especially CNC technologies supporting the end-to-end machining process. By bringing analysis and modelling capability to the heart of the machining environments, we transform the way to interact with CNC machines. It's a work lifestyle on the verge of exploding that will generate considerable savings." Says P. SOLIGNAC, Corporate Marketing Director

“By joining the Intel® Software Partner program we were able to make maximum use of the multi-core and multithreading capabilities of the Intel i5/i7 processors. These performance factors differentiate NCSIMUL Machine, our flagship machining simulation solution, from our rivals. By enabling simultaneous collision detection, material removal and machine axis path calculations, we deliver substantial time savings. Because our solutions are compatible with the Intel range – processors, mother board, etc. - we have been able to port our applications directly to the Panasonic Toughpad, taking 3D machining simulation mainstream, whereas formerly it was used only in process planning departments, transforming the interaction between operator and machine. We are very proud to have been invited to demonstrate this technological breakthrough in the manufacturing sector, illustrating the manufacturing theme that is the backbone of the Microsoft TechDays”, explains Philippe Solignac, Corporate Marketing Director at SPRING Technologies.

Microsoft tech.days PARIS : SPRING Technologies to demonstrate WYSIWYC in INTEL booth

Representing the Manufacturing vertical on Intel's booth, SPRING will demonstrate its 2-in-1 synchronized simulation solution dedicated to CNC operators and shop-floor managers.

 Microsoft tech.days 2014

SPRING Technologies will demonstrate its 2-in-1 solution - WYSIWYC during the Microsoft tech.days 2014, held in Paris, from Feb, 11 to 13. This solution focuses on enhancing the machining process by integrating major innovations both in software and material handling; bringing to all workshop stakeholders full mobility thanks to the Panasonic Toughpad. This solution is based on Microsoft Windows 8 PRO touch capability. The blend of SPRING Technologies innovation and the unique user's experience with Microsoft Windows 8 PRO transforms the way CNC operators interact with CNC Machines. This realistic 3D simulation of the machining process (machine axes in motion, machined parts), simultaneous access to work instructions sheets, all being synchronized with the execution of the real CNC program fully displayed on the Panasonic Toughpad anywhere and everywhere.

Corporate Marketing Director, Philippe SOLIGNAC explains: "We are very proud to demonstrate WYSIWYC on Intel booth during the Microsoft tech.days. Thanks to our Intel Software Partner Program, we could very effectively take advantage of multi-core and multi-threading capabilities of Intel i5/i7 processors, key performance factors that allow us to ensure the technological leadership of our 3D machining simulation solution, NCSIMUL Machine. Indeed, collision detection, material removal and motion axes computation are now done simultaneously, allowing very significant gains in computation time. The compatibility of our solutions with the Intel range of components - processors, motherboard, etc.. - has also enabled us to run our applications directly onto the Panasonic Toughpad using Intel technology. This will democratize the use of 3D machining simulation in the shopfloor, hitherto reserved to the Manufacturing engineering Dpt. till now".

JEC COMPOSITES 2014: SPRING Technologies unveils “NCSIMUL Machine Composites”

Discover the new dedicated solution for the simulation of composite lay-up
 –
Booth R12 hall 7.3

SPRING Technologies, vendor of solutions to enhance the productivity of CNC machines, invites you to visit its booth at JEC COMPOSITES 2014 from March 11 to 13 at the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles, Paris. With its new offering, “NCSIMUL Machine Composites”, SPRING is extending its simulation offer to encompass composite lay-up.

Composites are a new growth opportunity for manufacturers, while at the same time addressing environmental issues and optimizing material costs. Yet, getting completely on top of these materials remains a challenge. This is why SPRING Technologies is delivering new, dedicated software solutions for professionals, backed up by project engineering support from its historic partner HACOMA.

Repurposing experience of ISO programming into composites

With NCSIMUL Machine 9.1, the latest version of its flagship machining simulation software, SPRING Technologies is bringing its expertise in CNC program simulation (supporting ISO and other codes) to the process of manufacturing parts in composite materials. The new “composites” functionalities enable smarter, more realistic, and more efficient lay-up simulation, supporting a wide range of manufacturing methods.

NCSIMUL Machine users can now simulate lay-up processes executed by Numerical Control machines (including robots), integrating technical publishing for documents such as work sheets, and automating numerous simulation process functions.

* Fast validation of CAM programs for material lay-up

* Precise positioning of the fiber ribbon and alarm systems (program error detection, collisions, etc.)

* Dedicated 3D analysis tools: fiber thickness measurement, angles between fibers , radius of aperture

* All 3D information can be reused by the design office (the fiber lay-up envelope can be exported for re-use in CAD)

* Easy, efficient user interface

THE MAIN NEW FEATURE OF NCSIMUL MACHINE 9.1

Simulation of COMPOSITE MATERIAL LAYING

The result of several years’ collaboration with major aerospace customers, NCSIMUL Machine 9.1 today makes it possible to replicate material laying processes executed by Numerical Control machines.

Just as it does in conventional machining, NCSIMUL Machine 9.1 decodes all types of NC programs, representing the complete machine environment in 3D to identify and analyze programming errors and collisions. The “Composite” option of this version also enables a dynamic representation of fiber ribbon laying, taking into consideration the 3D form of the carbon fiber. The positioning of each fiber in the ribbon is managed independently.

NCSIMUL Machine 9.1 alerts users to issues that are specific to the way Composites are processed and that are liable to occur on real-world machines: these include fiber steering angle errors generating possible deviation, twisting of taut fiber between the head and the position on the spool, fiber tension issues including speed disparities between fibers or sudden changes of direction creating backwards laying.

Analysis functions can be used to communicate information to the Process Planning department and the Design Office before going live. This includes the length of the laid material, layer thickness measurement, fiber ribbon intersection angle, aperture radius, etc. The section plane function gives insights into layering or possible holes in the material. At any time, you can export the fiber path or the end result of the material laying generated on the tooling in CAD format.

NCSIMUL Machine 9.1 takes into consideration the shape of the initial tooling and the tension applied to the fibers. SPRING Technologies has developed very fast new algorithms enabling fiber laying simulation with performances of 300 m/min. on a conventional CAD workstation.

All the functions dedicated to Composite technology are grouped together in a new Ribbon (Office mode) for a fast effective learning curve.
