PHIC launches NCSIMUL in CHINA

Held every two years, the Seventh Chinese Numerical Control Competitions (CNCC) took place in China last week. The National NC Skills Competition highlight various levels of skill in NC programming and machining. Bringing together the best of engineers and students from all over China, its objective is to award craftsmanship in efforts to nurture China's future in manufacturing and help reach target manufacturing goals of 2025. The event was covered nationally in printed and televised media. Additionally, in attendance at the inauguration was the Chinese Labor Minister and other national and provincial government leaders.

The competition itself is divided into three facets: CNC lathe and CNC milling on machining Centers (four-axis, five-axis), CNC machine tool installation and maintenance, overseeing five projects. While the competition evaluated theoretical knowledge, it mainly comprised of two practical operations. The first was a seven hour machine operation test where each contestant was required to machine his or her part correctly on a machine tool. The second part included a three hour examination of CAD design, CAM programming and NC-Code validation using PHIC-NCSIMUL.

NCSIMUL 4CAM wins award at AMB 2016 International

For the last three years, the German industry magazine MM MaschinenMarkt, has awarded eight trophies at the AMB 2016 international exhibition. The show, organized every two years in Stuttgart, is one of the top five in the industry. It draws 1,350 exhibitors from nearly thirty countries, all showcasing their latest offerings for machine-tools, new generations of precision tools and products used across-the-board by professionals in the machining sector. Many vendors were in competition for the different categories of 2016 MM Awards.

Why NCSIMUL 4CAM ?

The jury assessed the level of innovation on the strength of three main criteria :
  • Firstly and importantly, the offering had to be completely new or deliver a substantial improvement on an initial development ;
  • Secondly, it had to be revolutionary, rather than just an upgrade, in terms of traditional know-how ;
  • Finally, the eight members of the MM-MaschinenMarkt panel judged the solutions, not only on their intrinsic innovatory quality, but also, above all, on their real-world value in the industrial environment, taking into account the productivity increases actually delivered.

Of the 24 shortlisted businesses, the panel chose 8 winners, selecting one as "outstanding". Competition in the "Software" category, won by SPRING Technologies with its NCSIMUL 4CAM, was fierce, as prestigious rivals included Open Mind Technologies and Mitutoyo CTL Germany.

At AMB 2016 : Discover how NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS revolutionizes a 30-years-old CAM process

Automatic conversion of NC programs to new machines provides maximum flexibility in production

At SPRING Technologies, leading provider of dedicated software solutions designed to increase the efficiency of CNC machines, preparations are already running at full speed for the company's presence at AMB, the international trade fair for metal processing, which takes place in Stuttgart, Germany, from 13 to 17 September 2016. Every two years, visitors can see the latest developments and innovations in the field of metal processing technologies: cutting and non-cutting machine tools, precision tools, measuring techniques and quality management, tool and work piece handling technology, robots, industrial software & engineering, components and accessories.
Within the theme-based area of software & engineering at Hall 4, SPRING Technologies will present live demonstrations of the latest release of its NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS platform. The unified all-in-one software platform enables users to manage the entire CNC process and produce high quality parts more quickly and efficiently - by providing a flexible NC programming solution, high-performance simulation and optimization, DIN-compatible tool management as well as DNC and monitoring for a perfect real-time overview of the machine status.
« Industrie 4.0 » in CNC Machining
Herbert Schönle, General Manager of SPRING Technologies and responsible for the German speaking region, explains: „Today, production companies are subject to tremendous pressures in terms of both costs and time, there is an increasing demand for individual, customized solutions, of course with the highest quality. To be competitive, manufacturing companies need to produce with maximum flexibility and achieve a perfect machine capacity utilization. In this, our customers benefit from 100% error-free and collisions-free machining programs. Programming errors are detected automatically -even before implemented- and set-up times reduced. Intelligent optimization means that we achieve great results in the reduction of machining time by much as 20%; at the same time we increase the tool life and downtimes, minimizing numerous unproductive service issues in the production environment. Fast, streamlined and interconnected process chains based on intelligent data-transfers are often decisive in competition.”

Flexibility drives Productivity
One of the highlights of NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS to be presented at the exhibition stand, is the new NCSIMUL CAM module boosting CAM systems, which recently has been awarded the INNOVATION AWARD 2016 in France. The software breaks with a standard machine-specific CAM process, which has been applied for the past 30 years: whereas existing CNC programs have been used to be re-programmed for every new machine, from now on NC programs can be converted automatically to new machines. „This is a CAM revolution: to simply transfer NC programs to new types of machines, with different kinds of controllers or kinematics. The first users have already confirmed that programming processes, which used to take several days, can now be handled in a few hours. At the same time, with the final NC codes, the technological know-how remains protected within the company“.
In line with the concept of Industry 4.0, the virtual and the real CNC production environment are perfectly balanced by NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS, with a seamless end-to-end machining process. In this context also the interactive 3-D simulation of the NCSIMUL Player contributes to a significant working comfort. Simulations can be run also in a mobile environment on a toughpad, and can be safely and comfortably shared both within the company and with suppliers - the software is cloud-compatible, opening the way for smart production also beyond organizational boundaries.

The team of SPRING Technologies is looking forward to interesting discussions and contacts at the trade show.

IMTS 2016 -- SPRING Technologies highlights NCSIMUL MACHINE and NCSIMUL CAM as manufacturers usher in Industry 4.0

See full demonstrations of these advanced, award-winning software solutions and more in Booth E-3267

SPRING Technologies, vendor of software that optimizes the use of CNC machines, will show visitors at IMTS 2016 how its "NCSIMUL SOLUTIONS 10" all-in-one digital suite can truly usher in the "smart" factory. In Booth E-3267, the company is focusing on its most popular modules in the suite – NCSIMUL MACHINE and NCSIMUL CAM.
NCSIMUL MACHINE
NCSIMUL MACHINE is an innovative CNC software solution providing realistic simulation of the machining process. Users can simulate, verify, optimize and review machine programs based on the actual characteristics of the machine tools. Three-dimensional graphics help to avoid machining crashes while powerful algorithms and embedded process-based knowledge enable cutting conditions to be optimized. NCSIMUL MACHINE verifies programs in three steps: investigates and corrects coding errors, simulates to locate collisions and correct motion errors, and validates the program. The benefits are many, including reducing the time spent on debugging programs; preventing the costly risk of spindle collision, tool breakage and scrap; and improving cycle times and process optimization efficiencies.
SPRING Technologies has also addressed the increased use of composite materials in manufacturing by developing NCSIMUL Composites and welcomes inquiries about this product at IMTS 2016. New algorithms in NCSIMUL MACHINE enable the simulation of fiber lay-ups with the initial media, the already laid material and roller position taken into account. The software offers a realistic display of the complete 3D model of the final part, selectively displaying each layer.
NCSIMUL CAM
This module, introduced last year and recent winner of the "Innovation Trophies" award at France's PARIS INDUSTRIE 2016 trade show, streamlines the existing CAM process to simplify CNC programming. It allows users to change, in one click, the target machine without any reprogramming efforts. From the main CAD/CAM program or machine controller G-code, NCSIMUL CAM generates programs for any machine tool that are verified and optimized without an external post-processor. It takes into account the kinematics of the machine tool, machine controller, cutting tools and conditions. This efficiency results in lead-time reduction from prototype to production and in repurposing legacy programs to new machines.

"We are excited about IMTS 2016," said Silvère Proisy, North American Operations Director for SPRING Technologies. "In North America, our customers on average save 90% of their machine setup time, a $500,000 a year in production time by optimizing feed rates and more than $100,000 dollars annually on machine crash avoidance. We invite all who are looking to improve their machining OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) to see our demonstrations and for those moving towards the completely digital environment in their shops. It's often easier to show than explain our products, and we enjoy seeing the light go on in visitors' eyes when they quickly understand the new level of advancement and benefits that NCSIMUL solutions can bring to their factories in a very cost-effective way."
Mr. Proisy will be touching on all of these topics during the IMTS Conference on Monday, September 12 at 11:00 am in Room W194-A with a presentation entitled, "Boost Your Traditional Programming Process: Simplicity and Flexibility".
